3 Rantoul residents arrested on drug charges

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department says three people were arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation by the Street Crimes Task Force.

Champaign police say members of the Street Crimes Task Force, METRO SWAT, and Champaign Police SWAT executed two search warrants in Rantoul on March 9.

Police say the first search was at a home in the 1400 block of Eater Drive, and that during the search, officers allegedly found about 25 grams of heroin, eight grams of powder cocaine, 2.5 grams of crack cocaine, 24.5 grams of marijuana, digital scales, cash, and 14 rounds of .38 ammunition.  Authorities say Martez Taylor, 25, and Darius Erving, 25, were arrested as a result, and face preliminary charges of possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

The Champaign Police Department says the second search took place at an apartment building in the 1500 block of Hobson Drive.  During the search, Champaign police officers say marijuana, digital scales, and cash were allegedly found.  Terron Jake, 28, was arrested in connection with the search, and faces a preliminary charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Authorities say all three were taken to the Champaign County Correctional Center where they await formal charges.  Champaign police continue to investigate these incidents.
