SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Emergency Management Agency received word the Federal Government has denied aid to Counties affected by historic flooding more than two months ago. In a news release, IEMA says a letter from FEMA Administrator W. Craig Fugate says the damage from the floods and sever storms "was not of such severity and magnitude as to be beyond the capabilities of the state, affected local governments and volunteer agencies."  The state sought federal disaster aid in a request submitted February 26th. Counties included in the request for people and businesses included Christian, Sangamon, Clinton, and Iroquois.
