Board Members Want Public Discussion On Taylor Contract

Decatur – The Decatur School Board could tackle the controversial issue of extending Superintendent Lisa Taylor’s contract on Tuesday night.

School Board President Sherri Perkins told Taylor in February the board would not extend her contract past its expiration in June 2017.  No formal public vote was taken by the board but it’s believed there is a 4-3 split on ousting Taylor.

On Friday morning board members Fred Spannus and Brian Hodges told WAND News they would like the superintendent’s contract extension on the March 15th agenda.  Both Hodges and Spannus, who support Taylor, say there should be an open public discussion of the issue.

Taylor enjoys support from the teachers union and local businesses.
