CLINTON - A 46 year old man was shot and killed by Clinton Police and Dewitt County Deputies Friday. Clinton Police officers were called to a home at 101 East Benton Street for a report of a man suicidal and armed.  Officers say they arrived to find the man outside the home holding a large butcher knife and a club. After repeated attempts to de-escalate the situation, officers say the man came forward with the knife raised in his hand. Two Clinton Police Officers and one Dewitt County Sheriff's deputy fired their weapons simultaneously to stop him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.  The shooting is being investigated by Illinois State Police.
