Clinton Man Shot by Police Identified

CLINTON-Dewitt County Coroner, Randy J. Rice identified the man who was shot Friday, March 11 in Clinton by police.

46 year old Jack Goodman was fatally shot when police arrived at 101 East Benton street to a report of a male who was armed and suicidal.

Two Clinton Police Officers and one Dewitt County Sheriff's Deputy fire their weapons after attempting to de-escalate the situation, Goodman made attempts to get to the officers with a butcher knife and club in hand.

An autopsy has been scheduled and more information will be released as the Illinois State Police investigate the case further.
