Red Cross sending central Illinois volunteers to help families affected by flooding

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD - American Red Cross officials say volunteers from the Central and Southern Illinois Region are traveling to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas to help people affected by recent flooding.

Officials say three volunteers were deployed to Louisiana, while one volunteer was sent to Texas, and another was sent to Mississippi.  The volunteers will assist with casework and recovery, sheltering, and damage assessment.

Red Cross Central and Southern Illinois Region CEO Betsy Pratt says families have lost their homes and everything they own in these floods, and that the Red Cross needs "the public's support now."
