BREAKING: Voters in multiple counties experiencing issues in casting Primary ballots

Posted: Updated:

SANGAMON COUNTY - WAND News has received several reports of precincts in Springfield running out of Democratic ballots for the Primary Election.

Sangamon County Democratic Party Chairwoman Doris Turner has announced that she is holding a press conference in Springfield at 6:15 p.m. to discuss issues reported throughout Election Day.

SCDP Spokesperson Dan Kovats says a lack of Democratic ballots, a lack of election judges, and voters not being able to register at polling places are among the issues being discussed.

Additionally, Adams County State's Attorney Jon Barnard has announced that plans are in place to extend voting hours to 8:30 p.m.

According to our news partners at the Champaign News-Gazette, Vermilion County and Champaign County voters are also experiencing issues with their ballots.

The Macon County Clerk's Office says they are working on shipping more ballots to polling locations throughout the county.

In Piatt and Cumberland Counties, election officials says they have run out of ballots during the day, but they have been remedying this by moving people through with electronic voting while ballots were restocked.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
