UPDATE: Decatur police make arrest in connection with shooting near Millikin University

UPDATE - The Decatur Police Department says one person has been arrested in connection with a Thursday morning shooting near Millikin University.

Decatur police say a 23-year-old man was taken into custody at 4:19 p.m. in connection with this morning's shooting.  Authorities say he will be booked into the Macon County Jail on charges of attempted murder.

The identity of the man has not yet been released.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.


DECATUR - Decatur police say officers responded to the 900 block of West Wood Thursday morning for a report of shots fired.

Police say the incident happened at about 8:57 a.m.  Officers say they found a 22-year-old male in the area that had been shot in the leg.  The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Decatur police say they have developed a person of interest in this shooting, and detectives are continuing to investigate.  If you have any information about this incident, you are asked to call Decatur Police.
