Ameren Helps Low Income Customers

Champaign -  Ameren Illinois partnered with the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) to help qualified low-income customers reduce their energy bills.

One-time grants of up to $100 were provided to nearly 400 Champaign County residents at an energy assistance event at the MTD Illinois Terminal Facility in Champaign.

Attendees also had the opportunity to establish payment plans on-site and discuss strategies for curtailing future bills by implementing energy efficient measures.

"The event was a huge success," said Dawn Rear, LIHEAP Coordinator, CCRPC. "We were grateful for this partnership with Ameren Illinois to provide this benefit to eligible residents of Champaign County.  In four hours, we were able to assist 400 individuals and families  with a payment toward their utility bill.  We look forward to partnering with Ameren Illinois in the future."

"Many customers, particularly those in lower-income areas, are seeking relief to pay their energy bills," Ameren Illinois President Richard Mark said. "Ameren Illinois is committed to serving the community and that's why we're partnering with local social service agencies to provide relief to those who need it the most."
