Mattoon man facing aggravated battery, resisting arrest charges

MATTOON - The Mattoon Police Department says one man was arrested during the early morning hours of March 18 for allegedly striking a senior citizen.

Mattoon police say Satchel Cook, 21, was arrested at 12:34 a.m. at 44 Moultrie Avenue.  Authorities say Cook allegedly struck a senior citizen inside a tavern, and allegedly struggled with and kicked at the arresting officer.

Police say the 73-year-old victim suffered a facial injury.  Cook is facing preliminary charges of aggravated battery and resisting arrest.
