Jacksonville Couple Faces State Benefit Fraud


A Jacksonville couple faces up to 7 years in prison for state benefit fraud.  Terry Kingery, 37, and Amber Graham-Kingery, 32, both from Jacksonville are under indictment for reportedly steal $60,000 in state benefits.

The Office of Inspector General for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services investigated and says they stole from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP.

Sangamon County State's Attorney John Milhiser is reported as saying “When you have people who are providing false information and receiving benefits they shouldn't, that hurts those who need the benefits.”

The couple's next court appearance is April 25.

The theft charge the two are facing is a Class 2 felony because of the amount involved.
