Friends Remember Mayor McElroy With Golf Outing

Posted:

DECATUR- The month of July will mark one year without Mayor Mike McElroy, but friends want to remember his legacy with the game he loved so much, golf.

Friend of late Mayor McElory Joel Fletcher said, ""There is no body that loved Decatur more than Mike Mcelroy, he has done so much for the city."

Fletcher along with Natalie and Matthew Beck decided to honor the life of the later Mayor with a golf outing benefitting the Decatur YMCA. An organization that the mayor gave so much attention to because of the programs it offers the children in Decatur.

Since the passing of the mayor, this outing has been on the minds of many friends and residents in Decatur.

Matthew  Beck said, ""He had a heart of gold it got broken and it broke a lot of peoples by leaving but hes fond to remember."

Making the official announcement April 4, teams can join the outing and singles on July 22. A day that memories can be made and reminicisng can be enjoyed.
