Zoning Changes Possible for Corner of MacArthur and Pershing Roads

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR – The Decatur City Council is expected to rezone the northeast corner of Pershing and MacArthur roads, but the question lies with what will go in that area.

The Council meets Monday night at 5:30 PM. The area that is expected to be rezoned currently has two homes. Those homes will be torn down regardless of what the Council votes tonight.

Under the rezoning, the area would allow for offices, retail or restaurants.

The planning commission voted to recommend approval earlier in March. However, neighbors presented a petition to the council saying they do not want retail or restaurants at the corner.

This story will be updated as we receive more information.
