Treating Truck Drivers with Sleep Problems Could Reduce Crashes

NATIONAL – Treating professional truck drivers with chronic sleep problems could drastically cut crash risks.

New research shows people with Obstructive Sleep Apnea, or OSA, stop breathing briefly through the night, and that leaves them fatigued during the day.

Harvard Researchers compared a group of healthy drivers with those that suffered from OSA.  Drivers who were not treated OSA were 5 times more likely to get in an accident.
