ADM Workers voting on Unionization on Mar. 22

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR – In an update to a story WAND News brought you March 3, ADM Bio Chem Maintenance Employees will be voting on Tuesday, March 22, on whether they want to unionize or not.

WAND News previously reported that the United States Labor Relations Board had found Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) guilty of violating federal labor laws after a group of ADM workers said they were intimidated for trying to join a union.

That union is the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM), and now workers have the right to vote to become members without fear of interrogation and intimidation that Judge Olivero determined took place.

On March 22, those employees will vote on joining BCTGM.

While they vote in the morning, several other International Union workers will be standing outside ADM’s front gates in a show of support for the voting workers.

WAND News has been told by union officials that we will not know the results of the vote until the evening of Wednesday, March 23, or the morning of Thursday, March 24.

We will provide an update to that vote as soon as it is available.
