Macon Co. Authorities requesting public’s help with Crime

MACON COUNTY – The Decatur Police Department, in partnership with the Decatur and Macon County Area Crime Stoppers, are asking the public to keep an eye out for gun and drug crimes near abandoned houses.

Macon County authorities are asking residents to report any gun crimes, gun crimes involving drugs and any incident that could provide great risk to public safety and health to any citizen.

In a statement released on Monday, March 21, Officer George D. Kestner says there is suspicious activity that authorities want Macon County residents to be vigilant in reporting.

Officer Kestner explains that criminals have been known to hide guns and drug labs in abandoned houses. If a resident sees suspicious activity which suggests criminals are hiding guns and manufacturing drugs in occupied or abandoned houses, they are urged to contact the Macon County Crime Stoppers at 217-423-TIPS.

Any tips submitted to Crime Stoppers are completely anonymous.

If a tip leads to protecting the general public from any incident that could be a great risk to public safety and health or the recovery of guns and drugs in occupied or abandoned houses that tip provider could receive a cash reward.
