Students and Public invited to PEN Talk at Parkland

Posted: Updated:

CHAMPAIGN – The Parkland Entrepreneurial Network (PEN) will host a lecture by Chris Harbourt, CEO of Agrible, Inc. on April 1.

This lecture is one of many PEN Talks taking place at the college to allow students to interact with professionals in their interested fields. PEN provides students with entrepreneurial support through educational resources and networking opportunities.

The speaker for April 1’s PEN Talk is Harbourt, who is the head of a local agricultural engineering data firm. According to PEN officials, Harbourt brings more than 25 years of agricultural and entrepreneurial experience to his role.

Predictive analytic tools produced by his company Agrible aim to help agricultural companies and growers to increase their productivity.

Harbourt receives his bachelor’s degree in biological systems engineering from Virginia Tech University and a master degree and PhD in agricultural engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After college, he joined an engineering consulting business, where he grew his department from one employee to more than 20.

Additionally, he also works as an adjunct professor in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department at the University of Illinois.

The PEN Talk by Harbourt will take place from noon to 1 PM in Room C118 at Parkland College. The public is welcome to attend.
