Free Car Wash with Blood Donation

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD – The Central Illinois Community Blood Center is offering a free certificate for a Car Wash as a thank you to donors.

The offer runs until March 26 at participating donor centers including in Springfield at 1999 Wabash Avenue.

Meanwhile, the Blood Center has joined a national effort to help respond to a need for blood components in Puerto Rico, where volunteer blood donation has been stopped due to the Zika Virus Outbreak.

“We are able to lend support only when we can first meet local needs,” said Kirby Winn, Director of Public Relations.

“While current inventories support our involvement, It will be especially important for type O-negative and type B-negative blood donors to come forward in the coming days,” Winn adds.

The Zika Virus Outbreak has impacted blood donation due to a new, 28-day travel deferral for those who have recently traveled to the region where active transmission of Zika Virus is occurring, including Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin and South America.
