UPDATE: Decatur Police investigating 17th and William St. shooting

UPDATE – Decatur Police say they have a suspect in custody for the shooting that took place at 17th and William Streets Tuesday afternoon.

An 18-year-old Decatur male has been taken into custody by authorities at 8:10 PM on Tuesday night. He will be transported to the Macon County Jail.


DECATUR – Decatur officers are on scene investigating a shooting that took place at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, March 22, near the area of 17th and William Street.

Authorities responded to a report of shots fired in the area Tuesday afternoon. When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old male subject who had been injured and struck by a bullet. He was taken to a local hospital, and his injuries have been ruled non-life threatening.

Officers and detectives are still investigating to determine the cause of the shooting and the identity of the suspect.
