Water Commissioner Resigning From Board

CHATHAM-----Water Commissioner Terry Burke is resigning. Burke agreed to stay in his position until a replacement is found.

Burke is stepping down, after serving one year as Chatham's representative on the South Sangamon Water Commission Board. Burke said he believed the Commission and the Village of Chatham would benefit from someone better equipped for public speaking and presentations.

Burke said he would help his successor in any way he can. The Village president is recommending Ruth Bottrell, a Chatham resident, to the Village Board as the replacement for the position. Bottrell has worked as a microbiologist and laboratory quality specialist.

The Village Board is expected to take action on this appointment at an upcoming meeting.
