Standoff Ends Peacefully in Springfield


Springfield - A standoff between a man police ended peacefully on Springfield's west side Wednesday afternoon.    

Police received a call about shots fired near Lilac Lane and North Grand Avenue.

Police say it started with a domestic dispute between a man and a woman, escalating when the man fired a gun.

The standoff lasted for 2 and a half hours and in the end the man gave himself up peacefully according to the police.

"He eventually came out and surrendered himself.  No injuries and nobody is hurt at this time.  We have detectives on the scene that are interviewing people and taking care of wrapping up everything," said Lt. Wendell Banks.

The investigation into the incident continues.
