VERMILION COUNTY - Illinois State Police say two people were injured and one person is dead after an early morning crash on March 24.

ISP officials say the single-vehicle crash happened on Interstate 74, near mile post 202, in Vermilion County at about 1:04 a.m.  According to the preliminary investigation into the crash, a 2007 Mitsubishi Galant was traveling east on I-74 when the vehicle drove off the left side of the roadway, crossed through the median wires, and overturned on the westbound shoulder.

As a result of the crash, a portion of I-74 was temporarily closed down.  The 19-year old driver, and 17 and 20-year-old passengers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.  According to ISP officials, the 19-year-old, identified as Jerrell Deshon Hall, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup says Hall died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries due to the crash.

This crash is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police, and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.
