Applications accepted for annual Deer Hunt for People with Disabilities

SHELBYVILLE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Wolfe Creek State Park have announced that applications for the annual Deer Hunt for People with Disabilities are now being accepted.

Officials say this year's hunt is scheduled for November 18 through November 20, and that applications for the hunt will be accepted through March 31, 2016.  In previous years, participants have been able to enjoy morning and afternoon hunts from ground blinds and elevated stands, catered meals, and free lodging.

Officials also say 10 spots will be held specifically for wounded warriors this year.  Applications can be found by visiting the Lake Shelbyville Project Office, by clicking here, or by calling (217) 774-3951 ext. 7049.  Applicants be possess a disabled veteran identification card or a state-issued disabled person identification card.

Twenty-five applicants will be selected to participate via a drawing on April 4, 2016.
