Riverton's Weber to Become Next Boys Basketball Coach at Pleasant Plains

PLEASANT PLAINS -- Riverton boys basketball coach Kyle Weber is on the move, but he can keep all his Sangamo scouting reports.

Weber is expected to be named the next coach at Pleasant Plains Monday, when the school board holds a special session.

Weber was head coach at Riverton for eight seasons, and will replace Cliff Cameron at the helm of the Cardinal program. Cameron is retiring, and is headed to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Assocation Hall of Fame. His Cardinals teams won state titles in 2000 and 2002.

Pleasant Plains lost to eventual 2A state champ St. Joseph-Ogden in a super sectional this season, finishing 27-4 and ranked No. 9 in the final regular season media ranking.

Weber had a 134-80 record in those eight seasons at Riverton.
