Champaign man taken to hospital after Mattis North Apt. Shooting

CHAMPAIGN – Champaign Police are investigating a shooting on Cynthia Drive early Saturday morning that left one man injured.

Authorities received multiple reports of shots fired in the 2000 block of Cynthia Drive, near the Mattis North Apartments and reported to the scene at 2:03 AM on Saturday, March 26. Callers also told Champaign Police that a 24-year-old Champaign man had been transported to the hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found multiple shell casings and damage to a housing unit at Mattis North Apartments that suggests an exchange of gunfire took place.

No arrests have been made at this time, but investigators are interviewing potential witnesses and processing evidence from the crime scene.
