Champaign Fire Claims Woman's Life

CHAMPAIGN - A house fire occurring on the corner of S. Mattis Avenue and Cypress Drive early Saturday morning, claims the life of another.

The Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup released the identity of the person who was being treated in critical condition from burn injuries. WAND News previously reported that the fire had ravaged the home and left 23-year-old Christian Sheehan dead. That story can be found here.

Later that same day, 26-year-old Sara J. Shuler was pronounced dead at Carle Hospital at 5:47 p.m. Saturday (March 26) night. 

An investigation is being conducted by the Champaign County Coroner’s Office, the Champaign Police Department & the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
