Urbana firefighters rescue three dogs from Tuesday morning house fire


URBANA - The Urbana Fire Department says crews responded to a residential fire on the city's southeast side early Tuesday morning.

Officials say firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 900 block of Fairlawn Drive in Urbana at about 1:08 a.m.  Upon arriving, crews say they saw flames coming from the back of the house, and quickly began extinguishing the flames.

Firefighters say three dogs were rescued from the house, and that the owner was not home at the time of the fire.  Additionally, officials say the home was heavily damaged from the fire.

Crews cleared the scene at 1:33 a.m.  This fire remains under investigation.
