New Department Aims To Change Illinois Digital Landscape

Posted:

SPRINGFIELD----The Rauner administration is moving ahead with plans to form the new Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology.

Governor Bruce Rauner got together Wednesday with the Secretary of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Director of the Illinois Department of Corrections. Each explained how their respective agencies are making their departments' IT systems more modernized.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation recently announced it has started migrating form paper-based license renewals to electronic license renewals. The Illinois Department of Corrections has started the Offender360 program in an effort to reduce paperwork. It says it will improve the efficiency of Illinois' public safety workers.

Created under Executive Order 16-01, the new Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology, or DoIT, will consolidate all IT services in Illinois into one central agency.
