Decatur Fire Department responds to Wednesday evening house fire

Posted:

DECATUR - The Decatur Fire Department says two adults were displaced after a house fire on the city's southeast side Wednesday evening.

Fire officials say crews were dispatched to a home in the 3600 block of East Maynor Street at about 6:13 p.m.  Upon arriving, firefighters say heavy fire was showing from the front of the home's attached garage.

Officials say firefighters entered the building and extinguished the structure fire, but a gasoline-fed vehicle fire required the use of AFFF foam to smother the flames.

The Decatur Fire Department says the fire caused $20,000 in damage to the structure, and $38,000 to the structure's contents and four vehicles.  No one was harmed as a result of this fire.  The origin and cause of this fire is under investigation.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
