DECATUR - LIHEAP Applicants are receiving duplicate letters creating worry and confusion. The Decatur Macon County Opportunities Corporation says a computer glitch by the state has sent duplicate letters some dating back to October of 2015 to LIHEAP applicants. The Office of Energy Assistance in Springfield says it is working to correct the problem and no more letters are being sent out at this time. Letters stopped being sent from January to Mid-February and attempts to restart the letters led to the computer glitch sending duplicates. Meanwhile...the DMCOC office says April 8th will be the last appointment day for applicants unless the program receives more state funding. LIHEAP helps seniors and low income residents pay their winter heating and summer cooling bills.
