Guilty Verdict Returned In Attempted Enticement Of A Minor

Urbana – A federal court jury took just 26 minutes to return a guilty verdict against a Springfield man charged with trying to entice a minor.

Jeffrey Parkhurst, 59, of Springfield, was arrested last July in Decatur.  He used the internet and a cell phone to solicit sex with what he thought was a 15 year old boy.  The boy turned out to be a police officer.

Parkhurst could face a sentence of 10 years to life in prison, plus a fine up to $250,000.

He will be sentenced in federal court on August 1, 2016.
