LINCOLN, NE -- Nebraska used a 5-run 8th inning to beat Illinois 9-8 Saturday.
The Illini (11-13, 3-2) scored three runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to take a 7-1 lead. Nebraska responded with 1 in the 6th, 2 in the 7th, and 5 in the 8th to complete the comeback.
A week after tossing a 1 hitter, Doug Hayes turned in another quality start for the Illini, giving up just 3 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings.
Illinois will look to take the rubber game, tomorrow at 12:05.
