CHAMPAIGN -- The first weekend of spring ball is in the books, and new Illini offensive coordinator Garrick McGee likes what he sees so far.
"I definitely learned some things in the last couple weeks," McGee said. "There weren't many mental errors at all. Very smart kids, I've been very impressed with their ability to learn."
Wes Lunt will be entering his third season as starting quarterback. The Rochester native has taken a liking to McGee's playbook.
"It's good, we've probably just put a fourth of it in so far," Lunt said. "Going slow, but we've got a bunch of smart guys who have picked it up pretty fast. I think the biggest adjustment so far has just been getting in and out of the huddle. That's something that this group hasn't done in a long time."
The Illini will practice in pads for the first time Tuesday at 6 AM.
