The NWS has issued a Freeze Warning for central Illinois early Tuesday as temperatures are expected to fall into the upper 20s.
CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- After hitting 70 degrees this weekend, cooler air continues to move in to start the new work week.
The culprit, a cold front, sliced through early Monday morning bringing a few spotty showers to the area. However, sunshine will be back for the majority of the next two days, before rain returns Wednesday.
StormCenter17 Meteorologist Adam Del Rosso says temperatures will struggle to reach 50 this afternoon which is about ten degrees below average. Freeze warnings go into effect overnight into Tuesday with lows dropping into the upper 20s. Del Rosso says the warning is meant to be a reminder to cover or bring inside any sensitive plants.
