Smoke Alarms Safeguard Springfield Homes

SPRINGFIELD – Four people have died in fires, in just the last week. Authorities suspect it’s the result of outdated smoke alarms or carbon monoxide systems.

Saturday in Springfield, volunteers with the Red Cross, fire department and the Urban League took their initiative door to door, helping to install smoke alarms for free, to residents in the area.

Volunteers installed a total of three smoke alarms per home.
