City of Decatur to take ownership of Library in Vote

DECATUR – The Decatur City Council votes tonight to take ownership of the Decatur Public Library.

The lease agreement is for 20 years and the Library will pay $575,000 per year with a %2.5 increase every five years. The title for the Library would be handed over by May 1.

The city has agreed to pay for repairs to the heating and air conditioning system and repairs or resurfacing the Library parking lot by the end of April of 2017. The City will also study uses for the annex building and use for the second floor of the Library that is not currently fully utilized. 

The City Council meets at 5:30 PM Monday on the third floor of the Decatur Civic Center.
