April 5 declared "Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service"

SPRINGFIELD - Governor Bruce Rauner has announced that April 5, 2016 will be declared "Mayor and County Recognition Day for National Service" throughout Illinois.

On April 5, county executives and mayors will host public events, as well as use traditional and social media, to highlight the value of national service to cities.  More than 100 mayors and county executives in Illinois have agreed to participate this year.

As part of today's Day for National Service, 2,500 AmeriCorps Members are performing service at 2,200 service locations throughout Illinois.  For more information, or to sign up your city or county, click here.
