Springfield police arrest man in connection with Family Video robbery

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Police Department says one person has been arrested in connection with an aggravated robbery that happened at a Family Video in Springfield.

Springfield police say officers were dispatched to the Family Video at 19th Street and North Grand Avenue for a report of a robbery.  Upon arriving, officers learned that the suspect approached the clerk, announced the robbery, and left in a gray 4-door vehicle after receiving money.  No weapon was displayed in this incident.

Police say officers found a vehicle matching the description given, and attempted to stop it.  However, the driver refused to stop, resulting in a short chase.  Officers say the driver jumped out of the vehicle at 17th Street and Reynolds Street while the vehicle was still in motion, eventually coming to rest against a house in the 1700 block of Reynolds.

Springfield Police say officers saw a different vehicle leave a home in the 1700 block of Reynolds a short time later, and stopped it, as they believed it to be involved in this incident.  Authorities say the driver of the vehicle, identified as Reginald Deshazo, 33, was detained and eventually arrested in connection with the robbery.

Springfield Police also say a search warrant was issued for Deshazo's home, and that officers allegedly recovered evidence that potentially links him to the recent robberies to the Dollar General and Family Dollar stores in Springfield, as well as a Casey's General Store on Clearlake Avenue.

The investigation into all of these robberies will continue.  We will provide more information as it becomes available.
