DECATUR – The Staley Museum, located at 361 N. College in Decatur, Illinois, will open its doors for the first time on April 9, 2016.

A ribbon cutting event will take place at 10:00 AM on April 9 and will be open from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

The Museum is named for A.E. Staley. Staley’s impact on Decatur was so immense that he is counted as one of the founding fathers.

His vision contributed to Decatur being nicknamed the “Soy Bean Capitol of the World” and he was the driving force behind Lake Decatur, the Staley viaduct, the Staley Office Building, and the formation of the Decatur Staleys football club which later became known as the Chicago Bears.

The museum will feature memorabilia from Staley’s family life, his home, and his career.

Hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturday and from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Sunday.
