UPDATE: Deadly Decatur Shooting

MORE DETAILS – The Macon County Coroner has released additional information after a 40-year-old man was killed in a shooting on Tuesday night.

Coroner Michael Day previously identified the victim as Leon Taylor, of Decatur. Day released new information on Wednesday, April 6, with details about the cause of Taylor’s death.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene of a shooting on North McClellan Avenue with apparent gunshot trauma. The autopsy from the McLean County Coroner’s Morgue indicates Taylor died of a penetrating gunshot wound entering the left side of his chest with damages done to his lungs and aorta, resulting in massive internal bleeding.

Decatur Police continue to investigate this case. An inquest is pending.

UPDATE – We now know the name of the man killed after a shooting in the 1500 block of North McClellan Avenue in Decatur. 

The Macon County Coroner has identified the victim as 40-year-old Leon Taylor. An autopsy is being performed Wednesday in Bloomington. 

Decatur police were called around 8:35 last night and when they arrived, they found the man dead, on-scene.  Detectives are still interviewing witnesses and going through evidence.
