Schools.com names Lake Land College in Top 10 Community Colleges in IL

MATTOON – After looking at 48 institutions and analyzing seven categories, Schools.com has ranked Lake Land College sixth in the state for community colleges.

According to a release from the website, they utilized data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and other independent organizations for their rankings. Schools.com reporter Justin Boyle says they looked at attendance cost, student-faculty ratio, distance education focus and transfer rate to four-year institutions, among other factors.

Lake Land College’s sixth in the state ranking comes partly from their “commitment to affordability and sustainability.”

College President Josh Bullock says this honor is a reflection of the hard work of everyone at the college, from the board of trustees to the faculty and staff.

Officials say the college is continuing to offer new opportunities as well from a new Business Administration cohort program at the Kluthe Center for Higher Education and Technology in Effingham next fall to a new three-tiered Honors Experience for Presidential Scholarship recipients.

Lake Land College also offers a dual credit program for area high school students.

The full list of rankings, along with more information, can be found in the Schools.com article.
