Macon County Health Department aiming to help U.S. become healthiest nation by 2030

DECATUR - The Macon County Health Department has announced it is joining a national initiative that aims to make the United States the "Healthiest Nation in One Generation" by 2030.

Health Department officials made the announcement during National Public Health Week 2016.  According to the American Public Health Association, Americans are living about two decades longer than their grandparents' generation, due to the work of public health.  However, those rates fall short of results that other high-income countries are seeing.

The Macon County Health Department is encouraging residents to take measures to improve their health, and to support public health to ensure the healthiest living conditions for the community.
