CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- With lows Friday night expected to drop into the mid-to-upper 20s, a Freeze Warning is set to go into effect across most of central Illinois.
StormCenter17 Meteorologist Adam Del Rosso says high pressure will clear out the clouds helping the temperatures to drop, along with a northwest wind.
Because of a mild March, many plants and crops have started to bloom early. The bouts of below freezing temperatures so far this month have been a threat to those sensitive plants, hence the warning.
Temperatures will climb back above freeze by late Saturday morning, but they remain well below average with highs Saturday afternoon only in the mid 40s.
