Mattoon Police seek public’s assistance in locating Person of Interest

MATTOON – Mattoon authorities say they need the public to be vigilant as they seek out a person of interest.

32-year-old Adrian Vasquez, of Mattoon, is a person of interest and being sought out by the Mattoon Police Department for questioning in regards to two beatings that took place in late March to early April.

Police wish to interview Vasquez about an incident involving a group of men beating a man with a baseball bat on March 25 on Commercial Avenue, as well as the beating of another man on April 3 on Charleston Avenue.

Authorities say he frequents Mattoon, Charleston, Arcola and Houston, Texas.

Anyone with information in regards to the whereabouts of Vasquez, or with information on other suspects involved in these crimes, is urged to contact the Coles County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-345-8488 or text leads to 274637.

Mattoon Police can also be reached through Facebook messages.

Those who provide information to Crime Stoppers never have to provide their name and can qualify for cash rewards of up to $1,000.00.
