Springfield man arrested for stealing from 4 Family Video Stores

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Police Department reports they have a man in custody after he attempted to steal from a Family Video store for the eighth time.

24-year-old Christopher White was arrested after Springfield officers were called to the scene of a theft in progress at the Family Video store on West Lawrence.

Authorities responded to the call at 10:40 PM on Thursday, April 7. White had reportedly stolen money from the cash register and fled from the business. Officers were able to stop White as he attempted to drive away from the scene. They found evidence in the vehicle that connected White to the theft.

White was then arrested and taken to the Springfield Police Department.

Detectives were called in to follow up on the burglary and were able to link White to several other open cases. As a result, White is now being charged with 7 counts of burglary, 7 counts of theft and one count of aggravated robbery.

Springfield Police have linked White to the burglaries of the West Lawrence, West Iles, West Jefferson and South MacArthur Family Video store locations, as well as one aggravated robbery at the South MacArthur location.
