Operation Clean Up in Decatur

DECATUR – Decatur Youth will lead Operation Clean Up Decatur Friday, April 15.

Operation Cleanup Decatur is a collaborative event between the Decatur Family YMCA, the Beautify Decatur Coalition, the City of Decatur, Decatur Public School District 61 and St. Teresa High School. 

85 high school juniors and seniors from Eisenhower High School, MacArthur High School and St. Teresa High School will lead a 3-hour trash cleanup operation. Also participating are Decatur YMCA staff and volunteers, Beautify Decatur Coalition board members and volunteers, members of the St. Mary’s Hospital Green Team and Caterpillar employees.

The Decatur Family YMCA will serve as a 2016 Global Youth Service Day Lead Agency, mobilizing Decatur’s youth to lead the volunteer service project. 

Operation Cleanup Decatur will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. focusing cleanup efforts in three different zones: Eisenhower High School/St. Mary’s Hospital zone; MacArthur High School zone; and St. Teresa High School/Route 51 South/Old Kings Orchard zone.
