Rain, rain, go away! Sunshine returns for majority of next week

CENTRAL ILLINOIS -- Keep those umbrellas handy as rain chances will likely stick with us for the remainder of our Sunday and also for the first part of the day on Monday. Meteorologist Kevin Chierek says some areas could see between one to two inches of rain, especially farther to the south around I-70. Once High pressure starts to push in from the northwest on Monday afternoon, the rain will wrap up and our sky will start to clear out through the evening. While we'll start the new week with some clouds and a few lingering showers, the majority of next week looks fantastic. Starting Tuesday there will be abundant sunshine and it looks like that will be the trend straight through the work/school week and into the weekend! High temperatures will also reach back into the 60s Thursday and Friday with 70s expected for next Saturday and Sunday.
