Illinois House bill designed to give more transparency on adoption records

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD - A bill designed to make it easier for adopted children to obtain information on their biological parents may soon become reality.

The bill's sponsor, Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, a Democrat from Chicago, says the information will help give peace of mind to many adopted children.

Specifically, the bill seeks to make it easier for adult adopted children to find out why they were put up for adoption and what types of health issues they may have inherited from their biological parents.

The House is expected to vote on the bill this week.
