Average gas prices in Illinois on slight decline

Posted: Updated:

ILLINOIS - The average price for a gallon of gasoline in Illinois has dropped by nearly three cents in the last week, according to a survey from GasBuddy.com.

GasBuddy.com officials say prices in Illinois have fallen 2.9 cents to $2.06 per gallon.  Prices have also slightly decreased nationwide, about 1.2 cents, to $2.04 per gallon.

Prices in Illinois are more than 47 cents cheaper than they were on this day a year ago, but are still eight cents higher than a month ago.  GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski says decreasing gas prices in April is especially rare, but is a "good harbinger" for expected savings in 2016.
