Child Advocacy Center Being Renamed

Posted: Updated:

DECATUR – The Macon County Child Advocacy Center is being renamed in a Grand Reopening Ceremony in Decatur.

After nearly 17 years or working to protect children in Macon and Piatt Counties, The Center is being renamed the Child First Center in a ceremony in a ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 28. An open house at the new location at 800 East Clay Street will be from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Center Director Jean Moore says the name change more accurately reflects the Child First Doctrine which all disciplines investigating child abuse in the multidisciplinary team model seek to follow.

Macon County State's Attorney Jay Scott says the team effort of his office, law enforcement, and the staff of the Center is currently at an unprecedented level in aggressively and successfully prosecuting child sex offenders.
